Medical Office Clerk
Perform clerical duties assigned in accordance with office procedures of individual establishments and may include a combination of answering telephones and operating office equipment. Compile, process, and maintain medical records of hospital and clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of healthcare system. Process, maintain, compile, and report patient information for health requirements and standards.
Education :
High School diploma or equivalent

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of the job, the intern is regularly required to talk or hear. The intern is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, frequently, and occasionally lift-up to 25 pounds.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Answer telephones by the third ring and direct calls to the appropriate staff
  • Schedule and confirm patients' diagnostic appointments, surgeries, and medical consultations
  • Greet visitors, ascertain purpose of visit, and direct them to appropriate staff
  • Operate office equipment such as voice meal systems and use word processing, spreadsheet, and other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, and medical records
  • Compete insurance and other claim forms
  • Interview patients to complete documents, case histories, and forms such as intake and insurance forms
  • Receive and route messages and documents such as laboratory results to appropriate staff
  • Compile and record medical charts, reports, and correspondence
  • Maintain medical records, technical library, and correspondence files.
